France Coast - Avranches to the Loire Valley

One of the bishop's from Avranches, Saint Aubert, founded a sanctury on Mont Tombe in 708. It was to become this most famous place of pilgrimage - the Mont-Saint Michel. It is now connected to the mainland by a causeway and road. Buses run from a new information centre where you can park. This wasn't the case until recently, when instead you would walk out there at low tide with a guide.
